Top media and entertainment industry powerhouses join forces for NSW’s first creative tech incubator

SYDNEY, 14th February 2018: The Studio Ltd, NSW’s first Media and Creative Tech incubator for the media, entertainment, music, games, design and creative industries, is opening its doors on the 1st March, 2018.

As part of the new Sydney Startup Hub, backed by the NSW Government, The Studio Ltd is supported by a local and international industry
who’s-who: Animal Logic, Dolby, Amazon, NIDA, UNSW, AFTRS, CSIRO (DATA 61), Microsoft, and a host of others including Sydney’s Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences.

Developed as a collaborative space for the latest ideas from Creative/Media and Tech’s brightest new stars, The Studio is more than just a shared workspace, it is a new type of community and ecosystem, designed to create the right conditions for the cross-pollination of ideas and skills. The Studio will offer new creative and media tech startups the opportunity to access accelerator programs, networks and mentoring, workshops, and master classes.

“In our industry people collaborate on a creative level as a matter of course, but in an incubator environment, collaboration is more
around business strategy and ideas. And that is why our business and academic consortium partners are so important. They give startups a perspective that is hard to gain any other way,” said Chantal Abouchar, CEO of The Studio.

“Imagine having access to top business minds at Animal Logic, Dolby, or Amazon Web Service. Equally, the insights from UNSW or DATA 61 in terms that are relevant to your startup business. It can be game-changing,” Abouchar said.

The Studio offers more than just desks. It gives startups access to state-of-the-art broadcast studios (including green screen, sound and AR and VR facilities), a lounge, kitchen and meeting areas, and, most importantly, an ongoing, multi-layered, events program. Residents will also have access to a highly coveted collaborative network, including consortium partners, investors, and international linkages.
