Aspire to perspire: the Aussie couple making sweat sweet, affordably

  • Written by News Feature Team

When it comes to personal hygiene, nothing is more essential than the humble deodorant. However, with rising prices associated with the grooming category, it’s not uncommon for Australians to pay a premium for smelling fresh.

Aussie couple and founders of antiodeourant brand NO PONG, Chris Caley and Melanie McVean, are on a mission to stop stink one armpit at a time by offering a natural, safer and more affordable deodorant alternative to supermarket and niche brands.

With most mass market antiperspirants containing potentially harmful pore-clogging aluminium chemicals, the Australian made NO PONG is 100% natural and merges science and nature do deliver a toxic free, 12-hour water resistant unisex formula that stops bacteria from forming and causing the body to release a deterring odour when mixed with sweat.

Unlike most natural brands that often have an escalated price point, NO PONG was designed to be an affordable and sustainable hygiene solution for all Australians, regardless of their socio-economic status. Retailing cheaper than supermarket and boutique brands alike, NO PONG reduces outlays by focusing their business online and using ‘no frills’ packaging to minimise postage costs for their customers.

Combining Melanie’s passion for women’s health and Chris’ passion for marketing, the science graduates want to use NO PONG as a vehicle to educate Australians on the benefit of sweating and the potentially harmful side effects associated with skincare-related chemicals and toxins.

"We have approximately 2.6 million sweat glands in our body and for the vast majority of us; our major concern is in preventing these glands from functioning as nature intended.  “However, sweating is a natural bodily process designed to regulate body temperature and prevent heat exhaustion, in addition to expelling trace toxins and improving the body’s immune system. “NO PONG enables this while still keeping you fresh and odour free,” said Chris.

Retailing at $5.95, NO PONG is also the first brand of its kind in Australia to offer a global monthly delivery ‘smellscription’ service to customers.
